My Heartburn Remedies Experience

I have a confession to make: I, Sharon Petra, used to have heartburn on a regular basis, but in recent years it has gone down significantly.

I discovered this wonderful website on Heartburn Remedies recently, which has significantly reduced any discomfort relate to heartburn. The two heartburn remedies mentioned on the site include both chewing gum and drinking a little bit of vinegar. The general theory is that both of these heartburn remedies increase the amount of saliva produced, and saliva helps stop heartburn on a number of fronts.

For example, saliva helps counteract stomach acid as well as encourages digestion, both of which can help reduce heartburn. The high pH of saliva coats the esophagus, buffering it against acid, whereas the saliva that enters the stomach helps break down food.

Either way, I don’t really care because they both work well in stopping my heartburn! I actually do not get heartburn very much lately, except when I dine on Chicken Parmesan at my favorite restaurant accompanied with a few too many glasses of wine!

What I did to reduce my heartburn was basically change my life entirely. I was overweight, out of shape, and my diet was questionable to say the least. I wouldn’t say I necessarily over ate, but I can’t say I ever actually ate anything that was “healthy”. Pretty much everything I used to eat came out of a box or jar!

Now, I exercise by walking each day and I work out with weights with a trainer once per week. I also eat a pretty healthy diet consisting of a lot of fruit and vegetables.

I now only drink a few glasses of wine a week, and have actually started eating a little more meat. My trainer told me I didn’t eat enough protein – who would have thought? I always thought that meat was bad for you so I only ate it out at restaurants.

It turns out all those refined carbohydrates I was eating out of a box were a lot worse for my heartburn than a fresh dinner of chicken breast or fish and a pile of steamed vegetables. I am now actually eating more volume of food than I used to and am still losing weight, which is great!

Between the exercise, diet changes, and weight loss, I now rarely experience heartburn, and when I do, I just use the heartburn remedies mentioned earlier and I am completely fine!
